Kaziah Liz Mejo, who was raised in the UAE, has met Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, ahead of her appearance at the international Miss Universe competition.

The meeting comes as Mejo prepares to represent India on the global pageant stage later this year. The law student, who has roots in Kerala and spent her formative years in Abu Dhabi, was crowned Miss Universe India in August 2026.

Mejo shared moments from her meeting with Sheikh Nahyan on Instagram, describing the occasion as an important part of her journey towards the international competition.

According to the contestant, their discussion touched on ideas surrounding unity and the importance of creating a more connected world. She also said she received Sheikh Nahyan’s blessings as she prepares to take the next step in her pageant career.

For Mejo, the meeting carried significance beyond the pageant itself because of her personal connection to both India and the UAE.

The contestant has spoken openly about growing up in the UAE while maintaining a strong connection with her Indian heritage. In another Instagram story, she said she had long hoped to represent India in everything she does.

Referring to her Miss Universe journey, Mejo described her current achievement as only the beginning of a larger journey.

Her comments also highlight the dual connection that has shaped her identity. Although she will represent India at the international pageant, the UAE remains the country where she grew up and developed many of her personal experiences.

A journey from Abu Dhabi to the global stage

Mejo’s path to the Miss Universe stage began with her participation in the Miss Universe India competition.

She secured the national title in August 2026, earning the opportunity to represent India at the international pageant later in the year.

A law student from Kerala, Mejo was raised in Abu Dhabi and has maintained links with both her Indian background and her life in the UAE.

Her UAE upbringing has become an important part of her public story as she prepares for the international competition.

The upcoming Miss Universe appearance will give Mejo an opportunity to represent India while also carrying with her the experiences of having grown up in the UAE.

Meeting with UAE minister

During her meeting with Sheikh Nahyan, Mejo reflected on the significance of receiving support before embarking on the next stage of her journey.

She shared video footage from the encounter with her followers on social media and described the conversation as a memorable moment.

The discussion, as described by Mejo, included ideas about unity and building a more harmonious world.

She also expressed appreciation for the minister’s blessings ahead of her appearance on the international stage.

The meeting comes at a significant point in Mejo’s preparations, with the Miss Universe competition approaching later this year.

Strong connection to India

While Mejo grew up in Abu Dhabi, she has repeatedly highlighted her Indian roots.

In a separate Instagram story, she said that representing Bharat had always been an aspiration in everything she undertook.

She added that her Miss Universe journey represented the start of something bigger rather than an endpoint.

Her remarks reflect the importance she places on representing India internationally while remaining connected to the country where she spent much of her childhood.

For Mejo, the upcoming pageant is therefore linked not only to her national title but also to her broader personal journey between two countries.

Flowers and cards from Syria

Mejo also posted another Instagram story featuring flowers and cards.

She said the items were a gift from the President of Syria.

The social media post was shared as she continues preparations for her international Miss Universe appearance.

Looking ahead to Miss Universe

With the national title secured, Mejo is now preparing for the next stage of the competition, where she will represent India internationally.

Her background in law, her upbringing in Abu Dhabi and her connection to Kerala form different parts of the story she brings to the global pageant.

Her recent meeting with Sheikh Nahyan has added another notable moment to the period leading up to the competition.

As she prepares to take the international stage, Mejo has emphasised both her Indian identity and her connection to the UAE, describing the Miss Universe opportunity as the beginning of a longer journey.

The 2026 competition will mark her next major appearance after winning the Miss Universe India title in August, with the UAE-raised contestant now set to carry India’s representation onto the global pageant platform.
