The Return of Sharjah Safari: A New Season of Wildlife Wonders

As the intense summer heat begins to ease across the United Arab Emirates and the cooler months draw near, the region’s beloved outdoor attractions are preparing to welcome back the public. Leading the charge is the magnificent Sharjah Safari, which has officially announced its reopening for the upcoming winter season, setting its doors wide open to residents and tourists alike starting Monday, September 21, 2026.

For wildlife enthusiasts, families, and nature lovers, this marks the return of one of the country’s most immersive environmental and recreational destinations.

Location, Timings, and Visitor Information

Situated within the scenic expanses of the Al Bardi Reserve in the city of Al Dhaid, Sharjah Safari is a massive undertaking operated by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah. Spanning an impressive eight square kilometers, the destination replicates diverse African ecosystems, offering guests a chance to experience a true safari adventure without leaving the Emirates.

  • Operating Hours: Open daily from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Ticketing Options: Visitors can choose from bronze, silver, and gold ticket packages, tailored to provide varying levels of access and unique viewing experiences across the vast park grounds.

A Vision for the New Season

Commenting on the highly anticipated reopening, Aisha Rashid Deemas, Chairperson of the EPAA, shared her enthusiasm for what the upcoming months hold for guests.

“This season, we are bringing visitors closer to the many dimensions of the wildlife experience. Beyond observing animals in environments that reflect their natural habitats, visitors will have opportunities to discover the work and expertise behind their care. Our aim is for every visitor to leave Sharjah Safari with an enjoyable experience, deeper knowledge and a greater appreciation of our shared responsibility towards nature and wildlife.”
This year’s focus leans heavily into education and conservation awareness, ensuring that guests do not just observe the wildlife, but truly understand the dedication required to maintain such an expansive natural habitat.

A Remarkable Baby Boom: Over 180 New Arrivals

One of the most exciting highlights heading into this new season is the remarkable success of the park’s breeding and conservation initiatives. Between April and June of this year alone, Sharjah Safari welcomed 186 newborn animals into its growing family.

This new generation of wildlife features an incredible variety of species, giving visitors a wonderful chance to observe young animals up close. The recent births include:

  • South African giraffes
  • Majestic elephants
  • Powerful lions
  • Scimitar-horned and other majestic oryx species
  • Blue wildebeest
  • Impala and nyala antelopes
  • Zebras
These newborns join an already thriving ecosystem that continues to achieve conservation milestones. Among its recent rare additions, the park successfully welcomed six Critically Endangered Radiated Tortoise hatchlings. Furthermore, these additions build upon the safari’s previous breeding successes, which included the arrival of its fifth African Savannah elephant calf and the historic birth of twin ring-tailed lemurs.
