Abu Dhabi Crash Claims Lives of Three Indian Children and Their Maid

A heartbreaking road accident in Abu Dhabi has claimed the lives of three Indian siblings and their family’s domestic helper, according to information shared by a UAE-based social worker. The incident occurred early Saturday morning and has left the Indian expatriate community deeply shaken.
The fatal crash reportedly took place near the Shahama area along the busy Abu Dhabi–Dubai highway. The family was travelling together when their vehicle was involved in a serious accident under circumstances that are still being investigated. Insider18 has contacted Abu Dhabi Police to obtain further clarification and official details regarding the cause of the crash, but no formal statement had been released at the time of reporting.
The victims belong to an Indian family originally from Kerala, a southern state of India. Although they were residing in Ras Al Khaimah, the family had travelled to Abu Dhabi to attend a cultural programme. They were returning from the event when tragedy struck.
According to the social worker, the accident resulted in the deaths of three children from the same family, along with their domestic helper who was accompanying them. The loss has devastated relatives and friends both in the UAE and back in India.
While four lives were lost at the scene, other members of the family survived the crash but sustained critical injuries. The children’s parents, along with their 14-year-old child, were rushed to a hospital in Abu Dhabi, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Medical sources have described their condition as serious, and doctors are providing intensive care.
“The parents and one of the children are fighting for their lives,” the social worker said. “This is an extremely painful situation for the family, and they are receiving support from well-wishers and members of the community.”
The tragic incident has also raised questions regarding burial arrangements for the deceased. According to the social worker, the extended family has expressed a wish for the victims to be laid to rest in Abu Dhabi, the emirate where the accident occurred.
However, burial procedures for expatriates in the UAE are governed by specific regulations. Generally, expatriates are buried in the emirate that issued their residency visa. Since the family resides in Ras Al Khaimah, special approval would be required to conduct the burial in Abu Dhabi.
“The family has reached out to us requesting assistance to carry out the burial in Abu Dhabi,” the social worker explained. “Under UAE regulations, this is not the usual process, so we are currently working with the authorities to secure the necessary permissions.”
He added that such approvals are granted on a case-by-case basis, depending on circumstances and official clearances. Community organisations and volunteers have stepped in to help the grieving family navigate the legal and administrative procedures during this difficult time.
News of the accident has spread quickly among the Indian expatriate population across the UAE, particularly among residents from Kerala. Many have expressed shock and sorrow, offering prayers and condolences to the family. Social media platforms have been filled with messages of sympathy, reflecting the deep sense of loss felt by the community.
Road accidents remain a serious concern in the UAE, especially on high-speed highways connecting major cities. Authorities regularly urge motorists to follow traffic rules, avoid distractions, and exercise caution, particularly during long-distance travel.
As investigations continue, the focus remains on supporting the injured family members and ensuring dignified arrangements for those who lost their lives. Community leaders and social workers are coordinating with hospitals, police, and government offices to assist the family during what has become one of the most tragic moments of their lives.
Further updates are expected once Abu Dhabi Police release official findings related to the accident and once a decision is made regarding the burial permissions requested by the family.
