UAE plans New Year festivities for workers across over 30 venues nationwide

The UAE will organise New Year celebrations at more than 30 locations nationwide, offering workers dedicated events to mark the occasion and promote inclusivity, appreciation and community spirit across the country.

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) has unveiled plans to host nationwide New Year celebrations for workers on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026.

Branded under the theme “Together, we welcome the New Year,” the initiative will take place at more than 30 venues across the country. The programme will include a variety of recreational and cultural activities, such as sports events, live entertainment, contests and gift giveaways, all aimed at boosting workers’ well-being and encouraging greater social inclusion.

As the country prepares to welcome the New Year, authorities have emphasised the importance of ensuring that workers — who play a vital role in the nation’s development — are actively included in the celebrations. The initiative reflects the UAE’s broader approach to public festivities, combining entertainment with recognition and community engagement, while underscoring the contribution of the workforce to society and economic progress.

Mohre has called on private sector companies and labour accommodation operators to register their participation through the ministry’s official website. Organisations are encouraged to select events that best suit their operational needs, locations and schedules.

The ministry highlighted the success of previous worker-focused celebrations. During the New Year events on January 1, 2025, activities were organised at 18 locations nationwide. Similarly, Eid Al Fitr 2025 celebrations were held at 10 venues across the UAE, featuring sports, entertainment and raffle draws that awarded several major prizes.

One notable winner during the Eid Al Fitr events was 24-year-old painter Rubel Ahmed Samsad Ali, who earned Dh800 per month and won a brand-new car. He later shared plans to sell the vehicle to help build a home and provide financial support for his family.

Workers also benefited from prize draws during the Eid Al Adha 2025 celebrations. Among the winners was Mukesh Paswan, a Nepali national who received a new Mitsubishi car at an event in Jebel Ali. He said he hoped to use the proceeds to secure a better future for his children.

Officials said the expanded scale of this year’s New Year celebrations reflects the UAE’s continued focus on worker welfare and inclusion. By increasing the number of venues, authorities aim to ensure easier access for workers living in different emirates and labour accommodations. The events are designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment where workers can relax, socialise and feel appreciated. Organisers noted that such initiatives help strengthen community bonds, improve morale and reinforce a sense of belonging among participants, particularly for those spending the holiday period away from their families.

In addition to entertainment and sporting activities, the celebrations are expected to feature cultural programmes that reflect the diversity of the workforce. Music, performances and interactive games will be organised to encourage participation and create a festive atmosphere. Volunteers and partners from both public and private sectors will support the events, ensuring smooth coordination and safety. Authorities said these gatherings offer workers an opportunity to unwind from daily routines while connecting with colleagues and members of the wider community in a positive, celebratory setting.

The ministry noted that worker-centred celebrations have become a regular part of the UAE’s public holiday calendar, evolving each year based on feedback and participation levels. By continuously expanding locations and activities, Mohre aims to reach more workers and enhance the overall experience. Officials added that such programmes align with the country’s long-term vision of fostering social cohesion and happiness. As preparations continue, the ministry reiterated its commitment to recognising workers’ contributions through inclusive initiatives that promote dignity, respect and shared celebration.
