The National Centre of Meteorology warned of very rough sea conditions across UAE waters, while temperatures in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are expected to drop to around 19°C, urging residents to take precautions.
UAE forecast: NCM alerts residents to very rough seas as Dubai and Abu Dhabi record minimum temperatures of 19°C

The UAE is set to experience unsettled weather on Tuesday, December 30, with dusty conditions and skies varying from partly cloudy to overcast, the National Centre of Meteorology has said. Light to moderate rainfall may persist across parts of the northern and eastern regions throughout the day.
Moderate to strong northwesterly winds are expected to stir up dust and sand, significantly lowering visibility in some areas. Wind speeds are forecast to range between 15km/h and 30km/h, with gusts potentially reaching 60km/h.
Earlier on Tuesday, the NCM issued a marine warning highlighting fresh northwesterly winds of up to 40km/h, creating rough sea conditions in the Oman Sea. Wave heights could rise to around six feet between 5.45am on December 30 and 12.45am on Wednesday, December 31.
Temperature-wise, both Abu Dhabi and Dubai are likely to record highs of about 25°C, with lows near 19°C. Sharjah is expected to see cooler conditions, with temperatures fluctuating between 16°C and 24°C. Some inland and northern parts of the UAE may experience a further drop, with temperatures dipping to nearly 12°C.
Residents are advised to take extra care while commuting, particularly during early morning and evening hours when dust levels and reduced visibility could pose hazards on major roads and highways. Motorists are urged to slow down, maintain safe distances, and use headlights where necessary. Authorities have also reminded drivers to stay alert for sudden gusts of wind that may affect vehicle stability, especially for light vehicles and trucks. Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to limit outdoor exposure during peak dusty periods to avoid respiratory discomfort and reduced visibility.
Maritime activity is expected to be affected by the prevailing weather conditions, with fishermen, boat operators, and beachgoers urged to follow official advisories. The NCM has warned that rough sea conditions may persist intermittently, particularly along the eastern coastline. Small vessels are advised to remain docked until conditions improve, while larger ships should exercise caution when navigating affected waters. Beach visitors are also reminded to follow safety instructions issued by local authorities and avoid swimming during periods of strong winds and high waves.
Health experts recommend that individuals with respiratory conditions, allergies, or asthma take necessary precautions during dusty weather. Wearing protective masks when outdoors, keeping windows tightly shut, and using air purifiers indoors can help reduce exposure to airborne particles. Parents are advised to monitor children for any breathing discomfort, while elderly residents should limit outdoor activities during periods of poor air quality. Staying hydrated and following updates from official meteorological sources can help residents manage the impact of fluctuating weather conditions.
The cooler temperatures accompanying the unstable weather are expected to bring a noticeable chill, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours. Residents in inland and northern regions may experience colder conditions compared to coastal cities. Authorities recommend dressing in layers and taking extra care when using heating appliances to prevent safety risks. Farmers and those involved in outdoor work are also advised to take precautions to protect crops, livestock, and equipment from strong winds, sudden rainfall, and dropping temperatures.
The National Centre of Meteorology continues to monitor weather developments closely and will issue timely updates if conditions change. Residents are encouraged to rely solely on official weather bulletins and alerts rather than unverified information shared on social media. By staying informed and following safety guidance, the public can minimise disruptions and ensure personal safety during the ongoing spell of unsettled weather across the UAE.
