UAE authorities have cancelled Midocean University’s accreditation after uncovering significant violations, ensuring educational standards are protected and preventing students from being affected by the institution’s non-compliance with national regulations.
UAE authority revokes accreditation of Midocean University following detection of breaches

The UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has officially revoked recognition of every qualification issued by Midocean University, an institution that runs an executive office within the emirate of Fujairah. This action means that all degrees, certificates, and academic credentials from the university are no longer acknowledged within the country’s higher education system.
The decision was made after MoHESR, in coordination with the Fujairah Free Zone Authority (FFZA), carried out a joint compliance investigation. During this extensive inspection, authorities discovered serious and fundamental violations in how the university was being managed and how its academic programmes were being delivered. The review revealed that the institution had failed to follow approved standards, did not meet required academic benchmarks, and operated in ways that fell short of national regulations governing higher education.
These findings prompted the ministry to take firm action to protect students, uphold academic integrity, and ensure that all educational institutions operating in the UAE comply with established rules, quality measures, and accreditation requirements.
Compliance review reveals serious breaches
The investigation revealed major shortcomings in the university’s internal operations, the systems used to deliver its academic courses, and its compliance with national higher-education requirements.
The Ministry reported that the university’s Fujairah executive office had been enrolling students and running educational activities without securing mandatory accreditation. Inspectors also discovered that the institution was carrying out practices “inconsistent with the laws and regulations governing higher-education entities”.
These practices included delivering online programmes without an approved quality-control framework, as well as major inconsistencies between the student and programme information submitted by the university and what inspectors actually found on site. The scale of the discrepancy raised additional concerns regarding the accuracy, validity, and transparency of its academic documentation.
After the inspection, MoHESR completed a comprehensive verification and technical review. Following this assessment, the Ministry announced its decision to revoke recognition of every qualification issued by the university and update its status in the official accreditation records to “not accredited”.
Ministry emphasises decision safeguards students and academic standards
Officials stressed that this action was necessary to protect students, preserve educational standards, and uphold the credibility of the UAE’s academic sector. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring all institutions comply with regulatory guidelines that support a reliable learning environment and prevent any unauthorised or misleading educational activities.
Students and parents were encouraged to ensure that universities and their academic programmes are formally licensed and accredited before proceeding with admissions.
