Officials in Delhi are probing a significant explosion in the city’s historic Red Fort area, which caused severe damage to nearby vehicles, shattered glass, and resulted in multiple injuries.”

“In response to the blast, authorities have increased security measures across multiple states and key cities. Chandni Chowk Market will stay closed on Tuesday as a precaution. Uttar Pradesh is on red alert, while Uttarakhand, Haryana, Odisha, Kerala, and Kolkata have been placed on high alert. Mumbai Police have released safety advisories, and security has been reinforced in Bihar.”
Police were observed examining the burned-out vehicles while securing the area around the blast site. Fire officials in India confirmed that several vehicles caught fire, and multiple people were injured, though the precise cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
Emergency teams are continuing to evaluate the damage and provide medical care to the wounded, as investigators strive to identify the cause and maintain safety for the public in the vicinity.

“The Canadian Embassy in India expressed its condolences to those affected by the tragic explosion in New Delhi and extended wishes for a swift recovery to the injured.
The embassy also advised Canadian citizens in India that they can contact Global Affairs Canada’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre in case of any urgent situations.
Several family members of the victims are still unaware of the whereabouts of their loved ones’ remains. One man told IANS that his relative had gone to drop someone at a train station and was caught in the explosion on the return journey.
Judging by the condition of the vehicle, it seems unlikely that the body survived intact,’ he said.
Authorities have advised commuters in New Delhi to steer clear of Netaji Subhash Marg, from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut, near the site of the explosion, due to traffic diversions and restrictions, according to IANS.
The advisory, effective from 6:00 AM IST, is expected to remain in place throughout the day.
Additionally, the Lal Qila (Red Fort) metro station has been temporarily closed.
Delhi Police are probing the incident under sections 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), which deals with terrorist offenses. Reuters reports that the UAPA is India’s primary anti-terrorism legislation, used to investigate and prosecute acts of terrorism as well as activities that endanger the nation’s sovereignty and integrity

Early inquiries into the car explosion near the Red Fort indicate it could be a terrorist act, Delhi Police sources told IANS on Monday night.
‘The powerful blast seems connected to a module previously recovered in Faridabad and may have involved a combination of explosives and chemicals. Security agencies are currently interrogating suspects Dr. Muzzamil and Dr. Adil, and the attack is thought to have been executed hastily following their detention,’ the sources added

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her sympathies to the families affected by the Delhi blast.
‘I extend my deepest condolences to the loved ones of those who have lost their lives in this tragic incident. My thoughts are with the injured, and I hope for their swift recovery,’ she said.
Union Minister Amit Shah visited the site of the explosion to evaluate the destruction, as security and investigative teams carried out a thorough inspection of the area.”


“Prime Minister’s Initial Response
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his first statement following the explosion in the capital.
‘My condolences to the families who lost loved ones in this evening’s Delhi blast. Wishing a speedy recovery to those injured. Authorities are providing necessary assistance to those affected. I have reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and other officials,’ Modi posted on his X account.”

He explosion caused injuries to several pedestrians and damaged nearby vehicles. Initial reports suggest there have been fatalities. Within ten minutes of receiving the alert, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch reached the site.
‘NSG and NIA teams, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory, have launched a detailed investigation. Orders have been issued to review all CCTV footage in the vicinity. I have also spoken with the Delhi Police Commissioner and the officer in charge of the Special Branch, both of whom are present at the scene,’ Shah stated.
The minister added that he would be visiting the hospital shortly.
‘We are examining every possible angle and conducting a comprehensive probe. All leads will be thoroughly investigated, and the findings will be shared with the public. I will head to the site soon and visit the hospital immediately,’ he said.
