Dubai Yoga is aiming to move beyond being merely the concluding event of fitness challenges, positioning itself as a significant experience that inspires wellness, mindfulness, and holistic health for all participants.
Dubai Yoga Strives to Be More Than the Grand Finale of Fitness Events.

With the rising global and UAE-wide interest in wellness and yoga, Dubai is working to integrate these practices into the everyday lives of its residents through the Dubai Fitness Challenge. For the first time, the DFC will feature Dubai Yoga, a premier mass event anticipated to rank among the largest yoga gatherings in the region.
Across its eight editions, the Dubai Fitness Challenge has engaged over 13 million participants, fostering habits that last well beyond November,” stated Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE). “Dubai Yoga goes beyond serving as a finale—it offers residents a shared moment to pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves.”
Scheduled for Sunday, November 30, at Zabeel Park, Dubai Yoga will feature a variety of activities including warm-up sessions, breathwork circles, mindfulness exercises, and live performances. The event is designed to be inclusive, inviting people of all ages, experiences, and abilities to join.
Al Khaja emphasized that launching the new flagship event was a deliberate move, designed to promote wellness throughout the emirate. “Whether it’s the early-morning cyclists of Dubai Ride or the runners along Sheikh Zayed Road for Dubai Run, the Dubai Fitness Challenge has always celebrated togetherness,” he explained. “With Dubai Yoga, we are continuing that sense of connection. It’s a reminder that true wellness starts within, and by practicing mindfulness collectively, we not only nurture our own minds and bodies but also strengthen the fabric of our communities.”
Earlier this year, Atlantis, The Palm held its inaugural yoga session to great acclaim, inspiring the hotel to organize another event this Saturday. The upcoming Yoga, Sip & Fly experience will combine a beachside yoga and sound-healing session with a unique adventure: participants will then take to the skies aboard The Dubai Balloon, the city’s only 360-degree tethered observatory.
“There’s clearly been a growing interest in wellness-centered experiences across Dubai, which is evident in the response to our own events,” said Denis Skamo, General Manager of The Dubai Balloon at Atlantis, The Palm. “More and more people are looking for opportunities that nourish both the body and mind, particularly in serene, picturesque settings that offer a break from the city’s pace.”
Yoga master and wellness expert Allaoua Gaham, who has lived in the UAE for the past 20 years, has observed a shift in how yoga is perceived. “Yoga has evolved from being primarily a spiritual practice to something akin to a health-focused regimen that can promote longevity and support healing,” he explained. “Vinyasa, in particular, has gained popularity as a full cardio workout. What stands out now is the trend of combining yoga with other wellness practices like cold plunges and biohacking, creating a truly holistic approach to wellbeing.”
He mentioned that artificial intelligence is starting to shape the yoga and wellness industry. “This emerging technology helps individuals achieve balance in their lives more effectively, while also freeing up time for them to explore their inner selves,” he explained.
Indian yoga expert Shaji Kumar highlighted that one reason yoga has become so popular is its universal appeal and its capacity to bring balance to the body. “Nowadays, many individuals face various emotional challenges, such as stress and weakened emotional connections,” he noted. “Yoga supports both mental and physical well-being by helping people center themselves. This benefit extends to everyone, from the elderly to young schoolchildren.”
He mentioned that many of his clients start practicing yoga after receiving recommendations from their doctors or employers. “Individuals dealing with certain problems are encouraged to try yoga, and over time, it becomes an integral part of their daily routine,” he explained
