The report suggests that salary growth in the country is likely to remain stable over the coming years, with employers continuing to maintain a consistent approach toward pay adjustments through 2027.

The survey, which was carried out in June 2026, gathered insights from 5,512 organisations operating across 135 countries, offering a broad view of global salary trends and reward strategies. The findings highlight that UAE employers are continuing to prioritise competitive compensation structures as they seek to attract and retain skilled professionals in an evolving labour market.

According to the survey results, employees in the UAE are expected to receive a median base salary increase of 3.6 per cent in 2026. However, salary growth varies depending on job level and seniority, with executives and senior management professionals projected to receive some of the highest increases. This group is expected to record median salary growth of up to 3.9 per cent during the year.

Employees in middle management roles, supervisory positions, and clerical categories are also expected to benefit from positive salary adjustments. The survey indicates that these groups are likely to receive median pay increases of around 3.6 per cent, reflecting continued employer efforts to reward performance and maintain workforce stability.

Looking ahead to 2027, the report forecasts that salary increases in the UAE will remain relatively consistent, although growth rates may experience a slight moderation. The average expected increase across all employee categories is projected to reach 3.3 per cent, while the median salary adjustment is expected to decline marginally to approximately 3.2 per cent.

Senior-level employees are expected to continue experiencing stronger pay growth compared with other workforce segments. Executives and senior managers are projected to receive a median increase of about 4.0 per cent in 2027, highlighting the continued demand for experienced leadership talent and specialised skills.

Meanwhile, salary growth for middle management, supervisors, and clerical employees is expected to remain steady but slightly lower, with projected increases ranging between 3.0 per cent and 3.2 per cent. The figures indicate that while companies are maintaining salary budgets, they are also taking a measured approach to compensation planning.

The survey reflects a broader trend among UAE employers of balancing salary increases with other reward strategies. Organisations are increasingly focusing on total rewards programmes that combine fixed pay, incentives, benefits, and performance-based compensation to create more attractive employment packages.

With competition for skilled professionals remaining strong, businesses are reviewing their compensation strategies to ensure they remain competitive while managing operational costs. The continued salary growth forecast suggests that companies in the UAE are confident in maintaining employee rewards despite changing economic conditions.

Overall, the findings point towards a stable compensation environment in the UAE, with moderate salary increases expected for employees in both 2026 and 2027. While executives and senior professionals are likely to experience stronger growth, employees across different levels are expected to see continued improvements in their base pay as organisations focus on retaining talent and supporting long-term workforce goals.

Mayank Patel, Senior Vice President at Adecco and Head of EEMEA, believes salary trends in 2026 will continue to reflect a cautious and balanced approach among employers. According to him, companies are expected to maintain moderate salary growth while carefully managing compensation budgets in response to changing economic conditions.

He noted that organisations are becoming increasingly strategic in the way they structure employee rewards. Rather than relying solely on fixed salary increases, many businesses are placing greater emphasis on performance-driven compensation models, including bonuses, incentives, and other forms of variable pay.

This shift allows employers to recognise and reward high-performing employees while maintaining greater flexibility in managing overall workforce costs. Performance-linked rewards are also helping companies address challenges such as rising expenses and inflationary pressures without making significant changes to their fixed salary structures.

Patel highlighted that businesses are focusing on creating compensation packages that balance financial sustainability with employee motivation. By connecting rewards more closely to individual and organisational performance, companies aim to retain skilled professionals, encourage productivity, and remain competitive in the talent market.

The growing adoption of incentive-based pay reflects a broader change in how employers approach compensation planning, with organisations seeking more adaptable and results-oriented reward strategies for the future.

Promotion-related increases

UAE companies continued to maintain a structured approach to employee compensation in 2026, with merit-based salary adjustments forming a significant part of overall pay growth. According to the latest findings, performance and contribution-based salary increases for employees across the UAE averaged 3.3 per cent during the year, highlighting a measured approach by employers toward rewarding workforce performance.

The survey showed that the median merit increase stood at 3.8 per cent, with adjustments being distributed relatively consistently among different employee categories. Executives, middle managers, and supervisory-level professionals experienced similar levels of merit-based increases, indicating that organisations are applying reward strategies across various levels of their workforce rather than concentrating adjustments only at senior levels.

However, clerical employees recorded slightly lower merit-based increases compared with other groups. The median increase for this category was reported at 3.1 per cent, reflecting differences in compensation structures and reward priorities across job levels. Despite the variation, the figures indicate that employers continued to provide salary improvements across multiple segments of their workforce.

In addition to regular merit-based adjustments, promotion-related salary increases also contributed to overall employee pay growth in the UAE. The data showed that increases linked specifically to promotions were more moderate when measured by the median figure, standing at 1.5 per cent. However, the average promotion-related increase was considerably higher at 4.4 per cent.

The difference between the median and average figures suggests that while many promoted employees received moderate salary adjustments, a smaller group experienced significantly larger increases. These larger pay jumps were mainly associated with employees moving into higher-responsibility positions or taking on expanded roles within their organisations.

Middle management and supervisory employees appeared to benefit most from promotion-related increases. For these groups, the median salary adjustment following a promotion reached 2.0 per cent, indicating that companies were prepared to provide additional financial recognition when employees moved into more senior or complex roles.

The findings suggest that UAE employers are using a combination of annual merit increases and promotion-linked adjustments to manage career progression and reward employee contributions. This approach allows organisations to maintain internal pay structures while recognising individuals who take on greater responsibilities.

Beyond salary trends, the survey also highlighted relatively stable employee retention conditions in the UAE. Organisations reported lower levels of workforce turnover compared with many international markets included in the research, suggesting that businesses in the country continue to maintain comparatively strong employee loyalty and workforce stability.

For the latest completed annual period, total employee turnover in UAE organisations recorded a median rate of 7.5 per cent, while the average turnover rate stood at 9.9 per cent. These figures represent all employee departures, including both voluntary resignations and other forms of workforce movement.

When looking specifically at voluntary turnover — employees leaving their roles by personal choice — the numbers were even lower. The UAE recorded a median voluntary turnover rate of 4.6 per cent and an average rate of 6.7 per cent. This indicates that a relatively smaller proportion of employees are choosing to leave their organisations compared with several other international labour markets.

The survey noted that retention levels in the UAE remained stronger than those seen in markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and several Asian economies included in the analysis. The comparatively lower resignation rates reflect the UAE’s competitive employment environment, where companies continue to focus on maintaining attractive compensation packages, career opportunities, and employee engagement initiatives.

The results also underline the importance of effective reward strategies as businesses navigate changing economic conditions. While salary growth remains steady, organisations are increasingly looking beyond traditional pay increases and exploring broader approaches to employee rewards, including incentives, career development opportunities, and performance-based recognition.

The global analysis accompanying the report identified several major challenges influencing total rewards strategies in 2026. Among the key areas of focus were improving reward communication, strengthening managers’ ability to implement compensation programmes, and integrating artificial intelligence into workforce planning and reward decisions.

Clear communication around pay and benefits has become increasingly important as employees seek greater transparency and understanding of how compensation decisions are made. Organisations are therefore placing more emphasis on ensuring that employees understand the value of their overall reward packages, including benefits and performance incentives.

Manager capability has also emerged as a critical factor in successful reward implementation. Companies are recognising that managers play an important role in explaining salary decisions, motivating employees, and connecting individual performance with organisational goals.

At the same time, the growing adoption of artificial intelligence is influencing how businesses approach workforce management and compensation planning. Organisations are exploring technology-driven solutions to improve decision-making, analyse workforce trends, and create more efficient reward systems.

Overall, the findings show that UAE employers are adopting a balanced and carefully managed approach to compensation in 2026. While salary increases remain moderate, companies continue to use merit adjustments, promotion rewards, and performance-based incentives to recognise employees and retain valuable talent.

With economic uncertainty and changing business conditions continuing to influence global employment trends, organisations are focusing on creating reward structures that support both financial discipline and long-term workforce stability. The UAE’s relatively strong retention figures and steady pay growth indicate that employers are successfully adapting their compensation strategies to meet the needs of both businesses and employees.

A new survey indicates that workers across the UAE could experience an average salary increase of 3.4% in 2026, reflecting a steady improvement in the region’s employment and compensation outlook.

[12,9
["post-46714","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","category-uae","pmpro-has-access
["GET
