An Emirati court sentenced six individuals to prison and ordered their deportation after a violent assault left the victim permanently disabled, underscoring strict penalties for serious crimes in the UAE.
UAE Hands Jail Terms and Deportation to Six Over Assault Causing Disability

A criminal court in Ras Al Khaimah has handed down prison sentences and deportation orders to six Asian nationals after convicting them in a serious assault case that resulted in permanent injuries to the victim. The ruling reflects the emirate’s firm stance on violent crime and coordinated attacks.
According to Insider18, the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Criminal Court sentenced the convicted individuals to three months in jail each, followed by deportation upon completion of their prison terms. The court also ordered the confiscation of the knife used during the assault, underscoring its efforts to prevent dangerous weapons from remaining in circulation.
The case dates back to an incident in which the primary defendant allegedly went to the victim’s residence while carrying a knife. Court records indicate that the accused forcefully entered the home and attacked the victim, striking him multiple times. Prosecutors told the court that the injuries sustained were severe and resulted in long-term physical impairment.
While the court acknowledged that the main defendant may not have intended to cause permanent disability, it concluded that the nature and intensity of the attack were sufficient to justify a custodial sentence. Judges emphasized that intent does not diminish responsibility when actions lead to lasting harm.
Further investigations revealed that several other defendants played supporting roles in the assault. Defendants numbered two through nine were accused of accompanying the main assailant to the victim’s home, assisting him in gaining access to the premises, and remaining present during the attack. The court ruled that their involvement directly contributed to the incident and enabled the violence to take place.
Although not all of the accused physically attacked the victim, the court determined that their collective actions facilitated the crime. By acting together, the defendants created the conditions that allowed the assault to occur, ultimately leading to the victim’s permanent disability.
During the proceedings, four of the defendants appeared in court and were present when the verdict was announced. The remaining five were tried in absentia after failing to appear. In a related decision, the court acquitted three defendants after finding insufficient evidence to prove their involvement beyond reasonable doubt.
Legal analysts cited by Insider18 said the ruling highlights how UAE courts view group violence and shared responsibility. They explained that individuals who assist, encourage, or enable an assault can face penalties similar to those imposed on the main perpetrator.
“One of the key messages from this case is that participation does not require direct physical harm,” a legal observer noted. “Those who support or facilitate violent acts may be held equally accountable under the law.”
The confiscation of the weapon used in the attack was also seen as a significant aspect of the judgment. Authorities have repeatedly stressed the importance of removing knives and other dangerous tools from situations where they can be used to cause harm. Courts across the UAE frequently order such items seized as part of broader crime prevention measures.
Officials in Ras Al Khaimah have reiterated their commitment to maintaining public safety and addressing violent behavior decisively. Coordinated attacks, especially those involving weapons, are treated with particular seriousness due to the heightened risk they pose to the community.
The ruling sends a clear warning that planned assaults and group participation in violent acts will not be tolerated. Authorities emphasized that everyone involved in such crimes — whether acting directly or providing assistance — will face strict legal consequences.
Ras Al Khaimah law enforcement agencies continue to monitor violent crime closely and work with judicial authorities to ensure offenders are brought to justice. The case serves as a reminder that the emirate’s legal system prioritizes the protection of residents and will act firmly against actions that threaten public order and safety.
By imposing prison sentences, deportation, and weapon confiscation, the court reinforced its zero-tolerance approach toward violence, reaffirming that accountability applies to all participants in criminal acts, regardless of their role.
