UAE Braces for Foggy and Humid Conditions This Christmas Week

The UAE is expected to experience foggy and humid weather conditions during the Christmas week, with residents advised to prepare for reduced visibility and generally damp atmospheric conditions across the country.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a detailed outlook indicating that humid weather will prevail across the UAE from Tuesday, December 23, through Saturday, December 27, with varying chances of mist, fog, and light rainfall during the period. Residents, particularly those in internal and western regions, are advised to remain cautious during early morning hours due to reduced visibility.

According to the forecast, humidity levels are expected to rise during the night and early morning throughout the week, creating favorable conditions for mist or fog formation in some inland areas. These conditions may especially affect western parts of the country, where visibility could drop during the early hours, potentially impacting road travel.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, weather conditions are expected to begin with noticeable humidity in the morning. During this time, there is a likelihood of mist forming over inland areas. As the day progresses, the atmosphere will improve, turning fair to partly cloudy. Low-level clouds may develop over islands and western coastal regions, adding to the overall cloud cover. Winds during these two days will generally remain light to moderate, although they may strengthen at times, reaching speeds of up to 35 kilometres per hour. Sea conditions are forecast to be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf, while the Oman Sea is expected to remain calm to slight, making marine activities relatively safe with caution.

Thursday, December 25, is expected to follow a similar pattern, beginning with humid morning conditions and a continued chance of fog or mist in inland areas. As the day unfolds, skies will be fair to partly cloudy, with intermittent cloud formations over islands, coastal areas, and some northern regions. Notably, there is a possibility of light rainfall on this day, which could bring brief wet spells to select areas. Winds are predicted to shift northwesterly and may intensify at times, reaching speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour. Marine conditions in the Arabian Gulf may become rough intermittently, while the Oman Sea is expected to remain slight.

By Friday, humid conditions during the early morning hours are likely to persist, maintaining the chance of fog or mist over internal regions. Daytime weather will generally be fair to partly cloudy, with clouds occasionally appearing over islands as well as northern and eastern areas. Similar to Thursday, there remains a probability of light rain, though rainfall amounts are expected to be limited. Winds will be light to moderate, with occasional fresh spells that could push speeds up to 35 kilometres per hour. Sea conditions are forecast to stay slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.

On Saturday, the final day of the forecast period, humidity is expected once again during the morning, along with the possibility of mist or fog over certain inland areas. Weather conditions during the day will be fair to partly cloudy, while cloud cover is expected to increase during the night, particularly over islands and western sea areas. Winds will remain relatively calm, blowing at light to moderate speeds of up to 30 kilometres per hour. Sea conditions will continue to be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.

Overall, the week’s weather pattern suggests stable yet humid conditions, with limited rainfall and intermittent cloud cover. Motorists are advised to exercise caution during early morning hours due to potential fog or mist, especially in inland and western regions. Those planning marine activities should stay updated on sea conditions, particularly later in the week when stronger winds and rougher seas may develop in the Arabian Gulf. The NCM continues to encourage the public to follow official updates and safety advisories as weather conditions evolve.
