According to the ambassador, Machchhar’s condition has improved and his morale remains strong. Mittal said the pilot was able to speak comfortably, smile and interact with those around him, which brought considerable relief to his family and the officials following his recovery.

The incident involving flight FZ1073 occurred on September 30 and resulted in the aircraft making an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Machchhar was subsequently taken to a hospital in Tabuk, where he received initial medical treatment before being moved to Abu Dhabi for continued care.

The Indian government has said that its diplomatic missions in the region remain in regular contact with the relevant UAE authorities and are monitoring developments surrounding both the pilot’s health and the wider investigation into the incident.

Indian ambassador visits injured pilot

During his visit to the hospital, Ambassador Deepak Mittal met Machchhar and his family and conveyed the Indian government’s support.

Mittal said that he had also met the pilot’s wife, brother and other relatives in Dubai. He assured the family that the Indian government would extend all possible assistance to ensure the pilot’s welfare and recovery.

The ambassador later provided an update on the pilot’s condition, saying that Machchhar remained stable and was responding positively during his recovery.

His interaction with the pilot appeared to reassure officials and relatives who had been concerned about his condition following the incident. According to Mittal, Machchhar was communicating openly and appeared in good spirits despite the injuries he had suffered.

The ambassador also emphasised that Indian diplomatic representatives were maintaining communication with UAE officials. He said local authorities had assured the Indian side that they would provide their support in dealing with the matter.

Mittal praised Machchhar for the courage he demonstrated during the incident and said India was proud of his actions.

The remarks came as Indian authorities continued to follow developments surrounding the flight and the investigation being conducted by authorities in the region.

Pilot transferred from Saudi Arabia to Abu Dhabi

Following the incident aboard the Flydubai flight, the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Machchhar was taken to a medical facility in Tabuk after sustaining injuries.

Indian diplomatic officials in Saudi Arabia had confirmed earlier that the pilot was receiving treatment there. Reports from Indian media subsequently indicated that he had undergone surgery and was in stable condition.

He was later transferred to Abu Dhabi so that he could continue receiving medical treatment and recover under further care.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said that the government was continuing to closely follow Machchhar’s health.

In its statement, the ministry said the pilot had initially received medical attention at a hospital in Tabuk before being moved to Abu Dhabi. The ministry also confirmed that the Indian ambassador had met Machchhar in hospital and had enquired about his wellbeing.

The ministry said that the ambassador had earlier met the pilot’s family and assured them that all possible assistance would be provided for Machchhar’s health and welfare.

Indian diplomatic representatives have also remained in contact with local authorities as the investigation into the incident continues.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai are coordinating with UAE officials, while India’s diplomatic representatives in Saudi Arabia had earlier assisted with developments following the emergency landing.

India praises pilot’s courage

The Indian government has publicly expressed its appreciation for Machchhar’s conduct during the incident.

The Ministry of External Affairs praised the pilot’s courage and said that his actions had received considerable admiration and support from people in different parts of the world.

Ambassador Mittal similarly described Machchhar as a brave Indian citizen and said the country was proud of the way he handled the situation.

The comments followed reports about the circumstances aboard flight FZ1073 and the injuries suffered by the pilot.

The pilot’s condition has remained a major concern for his family and Indian authorities since the aircraft was diverted and landed in Saudi Arabia.

The latest confirmation from the Indian Embassy indicates that Machchhar is now recovering in the UAE and remains under medical supervision.

What happened aboard flight FZ1073?

The incident occurred aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073 on September 30. Machchhar was injured during what has been described as a scuffle or security-related incident on the flight.

The aircraft subsequently made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, allowing the injured pilot to receive medical treatment.

Authorities have not yet completed their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Several agencies are examining what happened and whether there were any wider security concerns connected with the event.

The UAE Attorney-General has said that authorities are investigating whether the incident had any connection to terrorist activity, whether it involved a terrorist purpose, or whether it had been planned or directed beforehand.

The investigation is therefore examining not only what happened on board the aircraft but also whether there were any circumstances preceding the incident that could provide further information about its origin.

A special investigation team has been established by the Public Prosecution to examine the matter.

Authorities have indicated that the investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as officials examine the circumstances surrounding the flight.

UAE authorities investigating the incident

The UAE authorities have launched an investigation into the security incident involving the flight.

Counsellor Dr Hamad Saif Al Shamsi ordered the creation of a special Public Prosecution team to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

The team is expected to examine the available information and determine the facts surrounding what occurred during the flight.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also said it is monitoring developments.

The investigation is taking place alongside efforts by Indian diplomatic officials to remain in contact with local authorities and support Machchhar and his family.

Because the incident involved an international passenger flight and resulted in an emergency landing, authorities in more than one country have been involved in responding to its consequences.

Saudi Arabian authorities provided the initial medical setting after the aircraft landed there, while UAE authorities are now involved as Machchhar continues his recovery in Abu Dhabi.

Indian diplomatic representatives have maintained contact with authorities in both countries as they monitor the situation.

Pilot has extensive aviation experience

Machchhar is an experienced commercial pilot with more than 13 years in the aviation industry.

He has flown Boeing 737 aircraft and has accumulated approximately 9,750 hours of flying experience.

His professional background includes service as a line training captain, a role that involves operating flights while also helping develop and assess the skills of other pilots.

His experience has drawn additional attention following the incident because of the responsibilities associated with operating commercial passenger aircraft.

The circumstances of the flight and the actions taken following the incident remain subjects of the ongoing investigation.

For now, the focus of Indian officials and Machchhar’s family is on his medical recovery.

Family receives government support

Machchhar’s family has remained in contact with Indian diplomatic representatives following the incident.

Ambassador Mittal said he met the pilot’s wife, brother and other members of the family and reassured them that the Indian government would provide assistance.

The family was also kept informed about the pilot’s medical condition as he moved from treatment in Saudi Arabia to continued care in the UAE.

The ambassador’s visit to the hospital provided an opportunity for officials to assess Machchhar’s condition directly and speak with him.

Mittal said that seeing the pilot communicating, smiling and laughing was reassuring, particularly for his relatives.

The Indian government has continued to emphasise that its diplomatic missions are working closely with local authorities to support the pilot and his family.

The Ministry of External Affairs has similarly said that Indian representatives are maintaining contact with the relevant authorities and following the case closely.

Medical recovery remains the immediate priority

With Machchhar now receiving treatment in Abu Dhabi, his recovery has become the immediate priority for his family and Indian officials.

The Indian Embassy has confirmed that he is in good health and recovering well, while the ambassador described his condition as stable.

The move from Tabuk to Abu Dhabi was made to allow him to continue receiving medical attention and recover under further supervision.

Earlier reports indicated that he had undergone surgery following his injuries in the incident.

Indian officials have not indicated that there are any immediate concerns regarding his recovery, although he remains under medical care.

The latest update has therefore provided reassurance following the uncertainty that surrounded his condition immediately after the emergency landing.

Investigation continues

While Machchhar’s health has improved, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Authorities are examining the events that took place during the flight and are also looking into whether the incident had been planned or connected to a broader security concern.

The UAE Attorney-General has specifically indicated that investigators are examining whether there was any connection to terrorist activity or purpose, as well as whether the incident involved prior planning or direction.

A dedicated Public Prosecution team has been established to examine the case.

The findings of that investigation could provide a clearer account of what led to the incident and what occurred aboard the aircraft before it was forced to land in Saudi Arabia.

Until the investigation is completed, authorities have not announced final conclusions about the circumstances or motive behind the incident.

Indian missions remain engaged

Indian diplomatic missions in the region have remained actively involved since Machchhar was injured.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General of India in Jeddah provided updates when the pilot was receiving treatment in Tabuk.

Following his transfer to Abu Dhabi, the Indian Embassy there and the Consulate in Dubai continued communication with UAE authorities.

The Ministry of External Affairs has said that officials are closely following the situation and ensuring that the pilot and his family receive the necessary assistance.

The ambassador’s meetings with Machchhar and his relatives have also demonstrated the Indian government’s continued engagement with the case.

Officials have repeatedly stressed that the pilot’s health and welfare remain a priority while the authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the flight.

A reassuring update for Machchhar’s family

The latest assessment of Machchhar’s condition represents a positive development for his family after the incident and subsequent emergency landing.

His transfer from Saudi Arabia to Abu Dhabi marked the next stage of his medical treatment, while the ambassador’s visit provided officials with a direct opportunity to assess his wellbeing.

According to Mittal, the pilot remained in good spirits during their interaction, communicating openly and showing signs of a positive recovery.

Indian officials have also reiterated their appreciation for the support shown toward Machchhar following the incident.

The Ministry of External Affairs said it appreciated the admiration and support that the pilot had received internationally for his conduct.

At the same time, officials have avoided drawing conclusions about the wider incident while the investigation remains underway.

For now, Machchhar continues to recover in a UAE hospital, with his family, Indian diplomatic representatives and authorities closely following his condition.

The investigation into what happened aboard flight FZ1073 is expected to continue as UAE authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the security incident.

As the inquiry progresses, officials may provide additional information about the sequence of events, the factors that led to the emergency landing and whether any advance planning or broader security concerns were involved.

For the Indian government and Machchhar’s family, however, the immediate priority remains his recovery.

The latest confirmation from the Indian Embassy that the pilot is stable and recovering well provides reassurance after the serious incident and the medical treatment he initially received in Saudi Arabia.

Machchhar’s extensive experience as a commercial pilot, including more than 13 years of service and thousands of hours flying Boeing 737 aircraft, has also drawn attention to his professional background as the investigation continues.

Indian officials have reiterated that they will remain in contact with the relevant authorities and continue providing support to Machchhar and his family throughout the recovery process.
