Dubai Residents Report Strong Sense of Safety, New Survey Highlights

Dubai continues to rank among the world’s safest cities, with a recent nationwide survey indicating that residents have a remarkably high level of confidence in public safety. The findings show that nearly every resident feels comfortable moving around the city, even during late-night hours, reflecting the effectiveness of the emirate’s security measures.

The survey was conducted by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Interior. Its purpose was to measure residents’ perceptions of safety, security, and trust in law enforcement across the country. According to figures released by Dubai Police, the results paint a positive picture of how people experience daily life in the emirate.

One of the survey’s most notable findings is that 98.7 percent of Dubai residents said they feel safe walking alone at night. This high percentage suggests that concerns about personal security after dark are minimal for most people living in the city. Whether returning from work, visiting friends, or enjoying Dubai’s vibrant nightlife, residents generally feel secure travelling through public spaces.

Safety during daylight hours received an even stronger rating. The survey found that 99.9 percent of respondents believe Dubai is safe during the day, making it one of the highest-rated aspects of the study. This reflects residents’ confidence in the city’s overall security environment and the visible presence of law enforcement across residential and commercial areas.

The study also measured the broader impact of safety on quality of life. Dubai achieved a Security and Quality of Life Index score of 98.2 percent, highlighting the close relationship between public security and residents’ overall wellbeing. A safe environment contributes to greater confidence, stronger communities, and a more attractive destination for families, professionals, and visitors alike.

Public trust in law enforcement also remains high. According to the survey, 96.2 percent of respondents expressed confidence in police stations and the services they provide. This level of trust indicates that residents believe the authorities respond effectively to incidents, maintain public order, and work to protect the community.

Dubai Police shared the survey findings as an indication of the city’s continued commitment to ensuring public safety. The results reflect years of investment in policing, smart technology, emergency response systems, and community engagement initiatives that aim to create a secure environment for everyone.

Beyond Dubai, the survey revealed that confidence in law enforcement extends across the UAE. Residents throughout the country’s emirates reported strong faith in the ability of security authorities to maintain public safety and respond to emergencies. This widespread confidence demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between federal and local agencies responsible for protecting communities.

The UAE has consistently been recognised internationally for its low crime rates and emphasis on public security. Continuous investment in modern policing methods, surveillance technologies, and community-focused programmes has helped strengthen residents’ trust while supporting a safe and stable living environment.

Overall, the survey findings reinforce Dubai’s reputation as a city where people feel protected in their everyday lives. From walking alone after sunset to relying on local police services, residents report a strong sense of confidence in the emirate’s security system. The consistently high ratings across multiple indicators underline the importance of safety as one of Dubai’s defining strengths and a key contributor to its quality of life.

Sharjah Survey Shows Strong Public Confidence in Safety and Police Services

Sharjah has also reported encouraging results regarding public safety, with a recent survey indicating that residents continue to feel highly secure in their daily lives. According to figures released by Sharjah Police, public confidence in the emirate’s safety remains exceptionally strong in 2025.

The survey found that 99.7 percent of residents said they feel safe living in Sharjah, reflecting widespread satisfaction with the emirate’s security environment. The findings suggest that residents have a strong sense of personal safety whether they are at home, travelling within the city, or using public spaces.

The research was carried out by the Department of Statistics and Community Development as part of its efforts to measure public opinion on key aspects of community wellbeing. Alongside residents’ perceptions of safety, the survey also examined their level of trust in law enforcement and public institutions.

Results showed that confidence in Sharjah Police remains remarkably high. Around 99 percent of respondents expressed trust in the police’s ability to maintain law and order, respond effectively to incidents, and preserve stability throughout the emirate. This strong level of public trust highlights the close relationship between residents and the authorities responsible for public security.

Officials said the findings reflect the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies and government institutions to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Through community engagement initiatives, proactive policing, and continuous improvements to security services, Sharjah aims to maintain high standards of public safety while strengthening residents’ confidence.

The survey also underscores the role that security plays in enhancing quality of life. A strong sense of safety allows residents to carry out their daily routines with confidence, contributes to community wellbeing, and supports Sharjah’s reputation as a secure place to live, work, and visit.

The latest results align with the UAE’s broader focus on public safety, with several emirates consistently reporting high levels of resident satisfaction and trust in security services. Together, these findings reinforce the country’s reputation for maintaining a safe and stable environment through coordinated efforts between government agencies and law enforcement authorities.
