UAE weather: Clear to partly cloudy conditions expected, with temperatures dropping to 10ºC

The UAE will experience mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, with cooler conditions setting in as temperatures are forecast to fall to around 10ºC in some areas.

The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecast generally fair to partly cloudy weather for Wednesday, January 14, with stable conditions prevailing across most parts of the country.

Humidity levels are expected to rise during the night and into Thursday morning in some coastal and inland areas, particularly toward the west. There is also a chance of mist forming during the early hours, which could reduce visibility in certain locations.

Winds will be light to moderate, blowing from the southeast before shifting to northwesterly directions. At times, winds may strengthen, with speeds ranging between 10 and 25kmph and occasionally reaching up to 40kmph.

On Tuesday, the country’s highest temperature was recorded at 28°C in Al Qor, Dubai, at around 2.15pm. For Wednesday, temperatures across the UAE are expected to range from a low of 10ºC to a high of 28ºC.

In Dubai, daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 26°C, while nighttime lows may drop to 18°C. Abu Dhabi will experience similar conditions, with a maximum of 26°C and a minimum of 15°C. In Sharjah, temperatures are expected to range between 14°C and 24°C.

Sea conditions will remain relatively calm, with slight to moderate waves expected in the Arabian Gulf and slight seas forecast in the Oman Sea.

The cooler temperatures forecast across the UAE are likely to be most noticeable during the early morning hours, particularly in inland and desert regions. Residents heading out early are advised to dress warmly, as the drop in temperatures may feel significant compared to daytime conditions. Mountainous areas could experience even cooler readings, reinforcing the seasonal shift toward milder winter weather. The NCM has advised motorists to remain cautious during early morning travel, especially in areas prone to mist or reduced visibility.

Humidity levels increasing overnight may lead to discomfort in some coastal communities, especially during the early hours of Thursday. Moist conditions combined with cooler air can contribute to mist formation, which may affect visibility on roads near coastal highways and open stretches. Authorities encourage drivers to use fog lights when necessary and maintain safe distances between vehicles. While widespread fog is not expected, patchy mist could still pose challenges in isolated locations, particularly in western parts of the country.

The changing wind patterns are expected to play a role in moderating daytime temperatures, with northwesterly winds bringing slightly cooler air later in the day. These winds may also cause occasional dust in open areas, though no major dust storms are anticipated. Marine activity, including fishing and recreational boating, is expected to continue safely, given the relatively calm sea conditions. However, sailors are advised to stay updated with marine bulletins as wind speeds may increase briefly.

The current weather outlook reflects typical winter conditions across the UAE, marked by pleasant daytime temperatures and cooler nights. Such conditions are favourable for outdoor activities, including walking, cycling, and desert excursions, particularly during daylight hours. Many residents may take advantage of the mild climate to spend time outdoors, while organisers of outdoor events are expected to see increased participation. Health experts also note that cooler weather can encourage more physical activity among residents.

Looking ahead, the National Centre of Meteorology will continue to monitor atmospheric changes and issue updates as needed. Residents are encouraged to follow official forecasts and alerts, particularly those planning travel by road or sea. As winter progresses, temperature fluctuations are expected to continue, with occasional drops during nighttime hours. Staying informed and prepared will help residents adapt comfortably to changing weather conditions while ensuring safety during periods of reduced visibility or shifting winds.
