Dubai authorities announced new traffic diversions in Ras Al Khor to support construction of the Dubai Metro Blue Line, advising motorists to plan alternate routes and expect temporary delays.
Dubai Metro: Fresh traffic reroutes unveiled at Ras Al Khor for Blue Line building
The Roads and Transport Authority has announced traffic reroutes in Ras Al Khor as construction begins for the Dubai Metro Blue Line.
The RTA stated that lanes at the A15 intersection and Nad Al Hamar Street, close to the Used Car Market, are now closed. In a shared video, the authority highlighted further parallel lane modifications on both sides of the intersection to maintain smooth traffic movement.
Residents were also advised to obey traffic signs and plan their journeys ahead to ensure timely arrival at their destinations.
Authorities have emphasised that the traffic adjustments are temporary measures aimed at facilitating safe and efficient progress of the Dubai Metro Blue Line construction. Motorists and commuters are encouraged to stay updated on any changes to lane closures or road diversions through official RTA channels, including social media, websites, and mobile applications. Alternative routes have been suggested to minimise congestion, especially during peak hours, and drivers are urged to exercise patience while navigating the affected areas. The RTA also reminded the public that adherence to traffic regulations in construction zones is critical to ensure both driver and worker safety.
The ongoing Blue Line project is part of Dubai’s broader plan to expand its metro network and improve public transportation connectivity across the city. Once completed, the line will link key residential and commercial areas, reducing travel time and easing traffic pressure on major roads. In addition to road adjustments, the RTA is coordinating with local authorities to implement safety signage, lighting, and barriers around construction sites. Over 3,500 engineers and construction workers are actively engaged in building the Dubai Metro Blue Line, aiming for completion by September 9, 2029 (9.9.2029).
The Blue Line stretches across 30 kilometres and features 14 stations, representing one of the Roads and Transport Authority’s major strategic initiatives. The route connects the existing Red and Green Lines of the Dubai Metro and is designed to serve neighbourhoods expected to house roughly one million residents by 2040, significantly enhancing public transport accessibility and reducing traffic congestion across the city.
