Abu Dhabi drivers can remove eight black points to reinstate their driving licences through specific procedures.
Abu Dhabi authorities have introduced a service enabling drivers to lower traffic points or have their licences reinstated.
Motorists with fewer than 24 black points can remove up to eight points from their record. Those exceeding 24 points can restore their driving licence by enrolling in educational programs and paying the applicable fees.
Residents interested in this service can attend the workshops and courses at the Abu Dhabi Police platform on the first floor of Mushrif Mall Centre, available from October 20 to November 20, 2025, between 4pm and 10pm.
Black points are penalties assigned to drivers for major traffic violations, with the number depending on the severity of the offence. Accumulating 24 points within a year typically results in licence suspension.
Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi authorities launched a similar initiative to reduce traffic points during the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX).
The initiative aims to promote safer driving habits and reduce traffic violations across the emirate. Authorities emphasised that attending the courses not only helps drivers recover their licence but also educates them on road safety, defensive driving techniques, and the consequences of reckless behaviour. Workshops include interactive sessions, real-life scenarios, and guidance on traffic rules to ensure participants fully understand responsible driving practices. Abu Dhabi Police also plan to monitor the impact of this program, encouraging more drivers to participate and creating a long-term culture of safety, accountability, and awareness on the roads throughout the emirate.
