The authorities in Ajman, UAE, plan to equip all taxis with speed control devices to enhance road safety. These devices will limit vehicle speeds, reducing the risk of accidents and promoting safer driving. The initiative aims to protect passengers, drivers, and pedestrians while supporting overall traffic management in the emirate.
UAE: Speed control devices to be fitted in Ajman taxis to improve safety

Ajman has revealed plans to install intelligent speed-limiting devices in taxis and limousines operating within the emirate. These systems automatically adjust a vehicle’s speed according to its real-time position and the applicable road limits.
Ajman becomes the first emirate in the UAE to introduce this advanced system, which differs from existing speed control technologies. The upgraded system is designed to better regulate driving speeds and reduce risky behaviour on the roads.
The new devices determine the vehicle’s exact location and the speed restrictions for that area, storing geographic range data with enhanced precision. They then compare the allowed speed with the vehicle’s current position and adjust it automatically.
The updated features consist of:
A built-in intelligent mapping system that detects the allowed speed for each zone
Direct connection to the vehicle’s electronic driving system for precise speed management
Real-time, continuous data updates to ensure adherence to speed regulations
Improved safety for passengers and drivers while minimising dangerous driving on roads
Safe Driving Tech
Ajman has introduced smart speed-limiting devices for all taxis and limousines in the emirate, designed to automatically adjust vehicle speed according to both real-time location and local road limits. This makes Ajman the first emirate in the UAE to adopt such an advanced system, which goes beyond existing speed control technologies. The initiative aims to better manage traffic speeds and minimise dangerous driving practices. These devices accurately detect the vehicle’s position and the corresponding speed limit for each zone, store precise geographic data, and continuously compare and synchronise the current speed with allowed limits, enhancing road safety for both drivers and passengers.
