UAE Introduces Golden Visa for Waqf Contributors Under New Initiative

The UAE will grant Golden Visas to individuals who make significant Waqf donations, as part of a new national initiative.

Individuals contributing to Waqf (Islamic charitable endowments) are now eligible to apply for the UAE Golden Visa, under the category of “financial supporters of humanitarian efforts.” This new development follows a partnership agreement signed on Friday between the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and the Endowments and Minors Affairs Foundation, also known as Awqaf Dubai.

As part of this collaboration, Awqaf Dubai will be responsible for recommending both UAE residents and international donors who fulfill the conditions set out in Cabinet Resolution No. (65) of 2022. This specific resolution outlines the eligibility for the long-term residency visa under the humanitarian contributions category.

This move aims to encourage philanthropic involvement in the UAE and acknowledges the role of endowers in supporting charitable and community-focused initiatives through the Waqf system.

Based on the approved nominations, GDRFA-Dubai will proceed with issuing long-term residency visas. Additionally, a joint task force will be established between the two entities to oversee the execution of the initiative and evaluate its results, ensuring that the desired social goals are effectively met.
